The ISB girls varsity team took a very tough 33-28 loss in their first home game of the year against Salem Academy Charter School on Monday, December 5th.

Playing their first home action of the season in front of fans and parents as well as the boys varsity team for both schools, the Lady Blue Terriers were up for the task against a seasoned Salem Academy team. The gymnasium was loud and boisterous and the girls fed off the noise to put forth their best effort of the season.

Led by Elianor Hoffmann, the Lady Blue Terriers jumped out to an early lead and went into halftime leading by a slim margin. Coach Healy knew that the girls had to come out just as tough in the second half to walk away with the victory.

In the second half, the size and experience of Salem Academy started to impose its will. It was a foul ridden half of basketball which led to three important blue terriers fouling out of the contest.

Both teams played a fast paced, hectic style down the stretch and scratched and clawed right to the final buzzer. It was a great environment and a superb effort for the girls.

This young team has a lot of heart and the wins will follow this season as they grow as a team. Skills can be taught but the heart they showed on this night cannot.

The Lady Blue Terriers will take to the road again in their next contest, their last before Holiday Break, against Greater Boston Academy on Thursday, December 15th.

Go Lady Blue Terriers!
