ISB Varsity Coed Fencing

The Blue Terriers outfenced competition at the January 27th multi-meet at the Boston Fencing Club.

The fencing Blue Terriers won all of their epee team meets at the contest, which was hosted by Buckingham Brown and Nichols. They defeated epeeists from Northampton, Brookline, Bishop Feenan and Concord Carlisle. Outstanding performers include Daniel Carvalho, who won all 12 of his bouts, Lucas Allam, who went 10 and 2, and Captain Maia Carvalho and Lou Maes, who both captured 9 of their 11 bouts. Madeleine Anderson and Antoine Warde also contributed important victories. The beginning women's foil team did very well, led by Eliza Nilson, who won 6 of her 9 bouts, supported by Manon Petitdemange and Maya Tait, who won another 4 bouts between them.


Fencers performed well at Concord Carlisle multi-meet on Sunday, February 4th.

The Blue Terriers continued to dominate the state's epee teams, winning 11 and losing only 1 dual meet. Leading the men were Daniel Carvalho and Lucas Allam, who each went 15 and 3 for the day. Antoine Warde picked up another 5 bouts for the team. Captain Maia Carvalho led the team overall with a 14 and 1 record, followed closely by Lou Maes at 11 and 4, and Madeleine Anderson with 7 victories and 8 defeats. The beginning women's foil team continued to gain experience, led by Manon Petitdemange who took a remarkable 7 bouts over the course of the day, and Maya Tait who, while only fencing part of the day, contributed 2 more bouts. Eliza Nilson started the day, but was brought down by flu symptoms and had to leave early.
