In ES2, the 'normal' behavior when clicking a link was that a new window would pop up. This facilitated quick data entry between views and the ability to see more than one detail screen at a time.
The ability to have more than one screen open at a time did not disappeared with the new Axiom. Though the default behavior of links is to open in the same window, you can easily open them in a new tab or window by right-clicking the link and selecting 'Open Link in New Tab/Window'.
