In order to type French accents in Windows, use the International keyboard. Microsoft has a list of what key combinations to press in order to produce which accents once the international keyboard is activated at: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/97738. Toggle between the ""ENG - US" and "ENG - INTL" keyboards in the lower right corner of the screen, near the date and time. If neither of these options show, you will need to add the International keyboard. Do this by typing "Language" in the lower left search box called "Search Windows". Select "Language: Control Panel". On the right of "English (United States)" under "Change your language preferences", there will be an "Options" link. Under "Input Method", choose "Add an input method". Add "QWERTY. United States - International" and save.
