The ISB boys are coming off a pair of tough games over the weekend at the annual "Charger Classic" tournament at the Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall Campus in Waltham.
ISB Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Eagle Hill School on Friday, December 13th
Friday night's defeat in the semi-finals came at the hands of a red-hot Eagle Hill team. ISB fought hard but fell 66-46 as Eagle Hill jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, fueled by a better than fifty-percent shooting clip from the field.
Once again, Charles Wirth and Albert Atallah carried the load on offense. Meanwhile, Louis Wirth shined late with a series of strong finishes at the basket. The offense got a lot of great looks at the basket, however the iron was unkind that day.
The Terriers had their chances in this one but weren't able to be a viable threat in the late stages, sending Eagle Hill to the finals against the host, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall.
ISB Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Cambridge School of Weston on Saturday, December 14th
On day 2, ISB came out with high-energy from the tip against The Cambridge School of Weston. The Terriers held a lead for much of the first half, before ultimately falling 58-46 in an intense affair.
Early foul trouble for senior captain Charles Wirth and freshman defensive standout Matthew Beigi was the catalyst for a 5-point CSW halftime advantage. ISB battled hard in the second-half, making a late run and getting the score difference to a single-possession before falling short in the waning minutes. Freshman guard Mateo Valette showed more flashes of elite shooting with a pair of deep treys in crucial stretches.
The Blue Terriers will look to end the 2019 portion of their schedule with a home win Wednesday, December 18th at "The Blue Terrier Arena" against the Horace Mann School.
