Despite missing many fencers due to injuries and scheduling conflicts, the varsity fencing team ended the season with a spirited showing against Buckingham Browne & Nichols on Monday, February 4th.
The men's epee team continued their winning ways with a close 5-4 victory. In the final bout, Emilio Bankier, an eighth grader switching from epee to foil this year, outmaneuvered his opponent to a 5-3 win, clinching the match for ISB.
The men's foil team, in a tense team effort, won 5 bouts to 4 against a very strong BB&N squad. Julian Sutaria and Eudes Perducat each took 2 wins to boost the team to victory.
The women's foil team did win 2 bouts but, depleted by injuries and scheduling conflicts, forfeited 3 bouts and dropped the match to their opponents.
ISB has qualified 2 squads to the Division One Massachusetts State Squad Fencing Championships this year - men's epee and women's foil. They compete at the Boston Fencing Club on Friday, February 8th at 6:00pm. Anyone interested in coming to watch and cheer on ISB is welcome.
