The ISB boys varsity team started the 2017-18 season with a tough one sided loss against the Cambridge Charter School on Thursday, November 30th, at home 51-29.
The final score wasn't indicative of the effort put forth or the quality of shots taken that just didn't fall in the season opener. The hoops seemed to have a lid on them for most of the game for the Terriers.
Many times in sports, as coaches say, it's all the little things that truly decide the outcome of any given game and this one was no different. Trailing by 10 with a minute to go in the first half, the Terriers had a 5-7 point swing that changed all the momentum in this one. A missed rebound 2nd chance and dagger 3 pointer off an unforced turnover ended the half on a quick 5-0 run for Cambridge. This led the Terriers to be down 17 rather than 12 or even 10 points. With a manageable 10 point deficit and the lifting of the lids on the hoops, this could have been a whole new ballgame in the 2nd half.
With the sharpshooting of the Cambridge Charter guards and some early season shooting rust, this one wasn't meant to be for the Blue Terriers. The boys will face the Boston University Academy Terriers this evening, Friday, December 1st at 5:15pm.
Go Blue Terriers!
