Fencers perform well at Beaver Country Day School - January 20th
The fencing teams performed well at a multimeet at Beaver Country Day School on January 20th. The women's epee team took all three of their matches, beating Boston University Academy, Beaver Country Day School and Northampton High School. The men beat Beaver Country and Northampton but dropped a close match to Boston University Academy. Daniel Carvalho took all nine of his bouts and Lucas Allam went seven and two.
Fencers dominate multimeet at St. John's Prep - January 13th
The Blue Terrier's fencing team dominated the epee competition at St. John's on January 13th. The men's team won all three matches, beating Brookline High School, Boston Latin and St. John's Preparatory School. Daniel Carvalho and Lucas Allam led the team going 8-1 and 7-2 respectively, while Antoine Warde contributed another four bouts in the effort. The women beat Brookline and Dana Hall, but dropped a close match with Boston Latin, losing 4-5. Captain Maia Carvalho and Lou Maes both won seven of their nine bouts, with Madeleine Anderson contributing another five bouts. In women's foil, beginners Maya Tait and Eliza Nilson fought well, gaining experience and picking up 3 bouts in their effort.
Fencers take on Cambridge Rindge and Latin - January 7th
The women's epee squad beat CRLS 6 to 3 on January 7th. Lou Maes won all three of her bouts, Captain Maia Carvalho, two and Madeleine Nilson contributed one in their victory. The men, fencing without their top epeeist, lost 2-7, Lucas Allam and Antoine Warde winning one bout each. Cyril Millot, who fences foil, bravely took up an epee to help out the team. The women's foil squad, with beginners Manon Petitdemange, Eliza Nilson and Maya Tait lost a close match by only one bout, 4-5.
