In keeping with the International School of Boston's mission in which "...daily achievement is measured not only by test scores, but also by a student's emergent capacity to meaningfully relate to other citizens of the world," we are organizing our second annual "Community Service Day" for all Middle School students on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
In the morning, the students will go out to the community to provide a variety of services. When they return to school in the afternoon, there will be activities and a presentation to celebrate their work. This year we have partnered with the following organizations:
- Brightview of Arlington
- Cambridge Junior Forestry Program
- Cradles to Crayons
- Friends of Alewife Reservation
- Greater Boston Food Bank
- Humane Education Center MSPCA at Nevins Farm
- Mass Audubon Habitat Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary
The students will need to bring a bagged lunch, water bottle and a snack. They should also wear long pants (no shorts), their ISB t-shirt and closed toed shoes. Some of the groups will be working outdoors so should remember to dress for the weather -wear a hat, rain jacket, sunscreen and bug spray. Since they will be working hard, it might be a good idea to bring a change of clothes. Finally, as with all school activities please do not bring valuables or phones.
